To be clinically and managerially responsible on a shift by shift basis for the provision of:1. A high standard of direct nursing care.A safe supportive environment for staff, babies and relatives.Timely transfer of babies back to their referring hospital.Supervision and teaching of junior staff and students.Appropriate documentation in line with Trust standard and NMC guidelines for record keeping.We are looking for skilled neonatal trained nurses with excellent communication skills and proven evidence of leading and supporting a team of nurses to deliver high quality care to sick, premature babies. The successful applicant will be expected to work both short and long shifts as well as internal rotation to night duty. You must be NMC registered, in possession of a neonatal and equivalent of assessor qualification and have relevant recent experience at Band 6 level.


The Unit is one of three lead centres within the South London Neonatal Network and a tertiary referral centre for neonatal surgery. The unit has a capacity of 40 cots, 12 of which are intensive care, 12 high dependency, and 16 special care. The unit also provides a neonatal community follow-up service.


This is a rotational post that will cover Special Care , High Dependency and Intensive Care.

Other services treat patients from all over the country, such as family HIV care and bone marrow transplantation for non-cancer diseases. The trust also provides a nationwide state-of-the-art endoscopy training centre.
