The purpose of therole is to ensure sound financial management of Citizens Advice CountyDurham making sure the charity operates effectively. The successfulcandidate will have or be working towards a recognised accountingqualification and will demonstrate recent or ongoing accountingexperience.

Role : Finance Manager

Hours : Part time 22.5 hours

Salary : £32,000 FTE

Duration : Permanent

Location : Home/Hybridto Office

Key Duties

  • Work in close partnership with internal and externalstakeholders to provide accurate, timely and comprehensive monthlyfinancial accounts, financial reports, rolling forecasts and annualbudgets.
  • Perform routine financial and administrativefunctions. Maintaining accurate books on accounts payable andreceivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations.
  • Make recommendations and advise key stakeholders on how tooptimise budgets to best support projects, managing and advising onrisk.
  • Ensure that funding agreement conditions, regulationsand guidance are adhered to ensuring compliance and raising awarenessof contract performance.
  • Work in close partnership withexternal stakeholders to provide & support accurate payroll and HRsystems.
  • Support with key procurement contracts andmanagement of outsourced services.
  • Providing financialsupport to develop and implement the vision and business plan for thecharity, including bidding and tendering processes.
  • Development of and adherence to all internal and externalfinancial procedures and regulations including key contact withexternal agencies such as external Auditor and Banks

Person Specification

  • Recognised Accounting Qualification or actively workingtowards.
  • Finance experience within the charity sectordesirable with an understanding of the Charitable SORP and legalcompliance.
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks (or similar software) isdesirable with strong IT skills including excel, PowerPoint and word.
  • Self-starter with excellent communication skills and abilityto develop and maintain relationships throughout the organisation.
  • Strong core business skills including influencing andnegotiating, stakeholder

management and presentationskills.

  • Ability to interpret data, order and assess itsvalue and then present the findings to the relevant stakeholdersconcisely.
  • Comfortable preparing and analysing financialdata, presenting to stakeholders and facilitating sound financialdecision making.
  • The ability to commit to, and work within,the aims, principles and policies of citizens advice.
