Our new Independent Trustee will bolster the Board’s capacity in the area of finance, audit and risk, legal and governance with an understanding of the challenges within business management, organisational development and the importance of corporate responsibility. Our status is recognised by businesses and governments, and Chartered Membership of IOSH is recognised worldwide as the hallmark of professional excellence in workplace safety and health.
As well as being a professional body and membership organisation we’re also a thought-leader and an enabler, working collaboratively to help organisations around the world excel in safety and health. We are proud to have recently been granted regulated awarding organisation status by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual).

We offer free resources to help managers, workers, students, researchers and decision-makers in health and safety. In doing so, we aim to promote ways to improve occupational health and safety, help IOSH members and the public exchange information and ideas and maintain and enhance the professional status of IOSH members and other people involved in improving health and safety at work.
Further Information can be found at our website: The time commitment averages at one day per month and includes four board meetings per year (generally held in February, May, August and November). Meetings are a mix of face-to-face, virtual and hybrid. There are two development days, participating in committee meetings, engaging with IOSH on an ad hoc basis and attending events and functions. The term of office is for a three-year period, with eligibility for a second three- year term, maximum of six years.
