Position: Mechanical Design Engineer Salary: £45k - £55k + package About the Role: We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's special purpose design team. You will play a crucial role in designing and developing automated solutions, ensuring we remain a market leader in providing innovative products to our customers. Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute mechanical designs that meet business and customer specifications.
  • Apply commercial awareness to deliver cost-effective design solutions and manage scope changes.
  • Manage workloads to meet schedule objectives.
  • Communicate project status effectively to the Technical Director/Head of Engineering/Technical Lead.
  • Produce mechanical designs from concept to production drawings aligned with customer needs and business goals.
  • Utilize barcode scanning systems.
  • Support projects to ensure timescales and budget requirements are met.
  • Use third-party/supplier software for specific calculations.
  • Implement company and external standards.
  • Input data into the company database.
  • Understand and apply BS/ISO standards.
  • Review and check work done by others.
  • Conduct machinery risk assessments.
  • Provide expert input for the most economical and advantageous design strategy through collaboration.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as required.
  • Ensure innovative processes are implemented.
Key Skills:
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Competent in all technical aspects of mechanical design and development of special purpose machinery.
  • Experience in delivering technical solutions and calculations.
  • Knowledge of working within a multi-skilled environment (mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components).
  • Proven experience in managing technical projects within tight timescales.
  • Proficiency in 2D CAD design (AutoCAD) is desirable.
  • Essential 3D CAD design experience with Autodesk Inventor and Vault (SolidWorks considered).
  • Ability to provide quality information within deadlines.
  • Empathy and proactive interaction with other functions and projects.
  • Excellent PC skills.
  • Ability to interpret numerical data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum HNC qualified in a relevant mechanical discipline or significant industry experience.
  • ISOH SPA Passport (desirable)
