One my key clients is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Team Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (Powertrain) to lead their dynamic team. My client is a technical consultancy that specialise in the EV & Motorsport sector, helping major OEMS solve their technical problems.

Role: Mechanical Design Team Lead (Powertrain)
Oversee subsystem-level design reviews within your area of expertise.
Review and approve design evidence, including design calculations, reference data with sources, correspondence, tolerance stacks, clearance checks, and test reports, ensuring it is properly recorded for design reviews.
Approve Statements of Work, Interface Agreements, and Collaboration Management Plans for outsourced work packages.
Serve as a subject matter expert and design authority for major engineering systems or development processes/techniques.
Assist the department head in costing, planning, and generating proposals for new projects.
Present design concepts, status updates, and supporting evidence to demonstrate robust design solutions to internal teams, suppliers, and external clients.
Review Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) of systems and components.
Develop and maintain Engineering Guides, Procedures, and Standards in your area of expertise, ensuring that knowledge is captured for the development of safe, reliable, cost-effective, legal, and competitive solutions.
Collaborate with the wider engineering team and purchasing to optimize design at all levels.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX) and engineering simulation tools (e.g., Strong knowledge of powertrain components and systems, including internal combustion engines, electric drivetrains, transmissions, and hybrid systems.
Knowledge of automotive industry standards and regulations is a plus.
