What You’ll Do As a Technical Apprentice
During your first year you will attend college on a full-time basis to gain foundation skills and knowledge in electronics and complete a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering and Manufacturing Support Technologies. Upon completion, you will return to Leonardo to start your rotational placements within engineering support functions.
In your second year you will continue to rotate around different departments, gaining further knowledge of the company and developing your engineering skills. You will also build a portfolio of work reflecting your knowledge and skills to showcase your competency as a technician. For your final year you will specialise in your chosen area based on your experience throughout your rotational placements, you will also complete the End Point Assessment (EPA) for your apprenticeship in Engineering Technical and Manufacturing Support Technician (Apprenticeship Standard Ref ST1395).
During your apprenticeship, you will
Grow your knowledge of an engineering business and what the role of a technician is by being part of an integrated Project Team.
Develop practical skills in engineering and understanding key processes and technologies.
Support early careers activities - our apprentices have the opportunity to work as STEM ambassadors in schools, colleges and universities
5 GCSE grades 4 - 9 or grades A*- C or equivalent - Mandatory English, Maths and Science Plus 2 subjects
Due to the nature of this role you will be required to be on site full-time.
