What You’ll Be Doing: As a Principal Naval Architect, you will play a pivotal role in our Naval Architecture Hub team, providing essential naval architecture capabilities across a variety of projects. Your expertise will support the Royal Navy surface fleet worldwide. Your Key Responsibilities Include: Assuring drydockings of ships. Conducting ship stability and hydromechanic analysis. Performing structural design and analysis for various materials, including metals and composites. Conducting design or material state surveys. Managing complex engineering changes. Creating and assuring structural repair plans for metals or composites. Ensuring compliance with Naval Architecture design intent. Providing tasking and technical oversight to naval architects and engineers. Leading the management of stability and watertight integrity compliance. Your Skills and Experience: Qualified to degree level, with an MEng in Naval Architecture, Marine Technology, or Ship Science. Chartered Engineer status or a clear path to achieving it. Experience in engineering material selection according to British Standards and Defence Standards. Familiarity with engineering/naval architecture software, preferably PARAMARINE, and CAD software like AutoCAD or Inventor. Understanding of warship structural design and periodical survey regimes.
