We are looking for a band 5 ODP/ Anaesthetic Nurse to join our anaesthetic team at Royal Brompton Hospital. We are made of ODPs and Anaesthetic Nurses that staff six operating theatres including one hybrid theatre and five catheter labs. We also cover lists in the new Diagnostic Imaging Centre, CT and MRI and call out of hours.


A successful candidate once competent and ready for the on-call rota will progress to band 6.

The post holder will work closely with the senior staff and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent clinical standards of clinical practice and staff development as part of the theatre team
As a member of the anaesthetic theatre team perform the tasks of anaesthetic assistant following all checks and procedures as laid down in National / Theatre Policy

As a member of the anaesthetic team perform the tasks of anaesthetic assistant and support other members of the multidisciplinary team
To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff by acting as a mentor with the support of their senior colleagues
To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified as appropriate to knowledge and training.

Relevant anaesthetic course

Relevant post registration experience at band 5 within theatres
Able demonstrate sound knowledge of cardiothoracic / paediatric theatre practice. (Anaesthetic or surgical)
