London, United Kingdom Automata Full time

Level 4

Bonus (annual & discretionary & performance based)
Hybrid working from our London office
Automata is building a world-class company to disrupt the life science industry and empower scientists by making automation a reality for every lab.
We work with labs across the world to understand their specific workflows and needs and develop personalised solutions that range from diagnostic, and drug discovery to synthetic biology. Our LINQ platform allows us to simplify everyday automation tasks, while supporting more advanced paths for specialised workflows, in a fast, flexible, and cost-efficient way.
We are looking for a Hardware Delivery Engineer whose mission is to Manage and deliver products within hardware roadmap and ensure products provide maximum value for our customers within our LINQ System. You will work within Automata's hardware engineering team and engage internally with product, design and procurement and externally with our suppliers to deliver our hardware solutions to scope, to time and to cost.
Why is this role important at Automata?
To deliver our roadmap to schedule and truly maximise our ability to empower scientists we need a hardware delivery engineer to manage delivery of our products on the roadmap.
You will be responsible for:

Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and define project requirements, specifications and expectations for hardware products.
Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies for hardware projects. Identify dependencies, risks, and mitigation plans to ensure successful execution.
Oversee the design, development, and testing of prototypes to validate concepts and iterate towards optimised solutions ready for manufacture.
Engage with suppliers to align on technical specifications, timelines, and quality standards. Manage supplier relationships to ensure smooth collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and progress reports, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
Proactively manage changes in project scope, schedule, and requirements. Assess the impact of changes on project deliverables and effectively communicate adjustments to stakeholders and suppliers.
Implement quality control processes and standards with the supplier to ensure that hardware products meet regulatory requirements, performance metrics, and customer expectations.
Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and performance enhancement throughout the product development lifecycle. Drive initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and innovation in hardware delivery processes
Provide technical oversight and scrutiny of the products being delivered within the business and support technical queries within the wider hardware team as required.
What it takes:

Proven experience in project management and delivery of hardware products, ideally in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Strong technical expertise in mechanical design, materials science, and manufacturing processes. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and suppliers.
Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban).
Experience with CAD software (ideally OnShape or Solidworks), Product Data Management (PDM) and product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.
Solid understanding of quality management systems and regulatory requirements for hardware products.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive projects to successful completion.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and develop practical solutions.
Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
Nice to haves:

Previous experience leading and delivering hardware products in the Life Science industry.
Life Sciences experience
implemented and managed hardware engineering quality and operational business processes.
What gets us excited?
We’re passionate about the future of Technology and Automation and our growing success is about teams who share our passion.
