Diabetes Midwife

Oldham Greater Manchester, United Kingdom Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Are you a midwife with a keen interest in Diabetes care ?

We are seeking an experienced, proactive midwife with a good knowledge base in this interesting and complex area of midwifery to be part of a small team, serving both Rochdale and Oldham Care Organisations. As the Diabetes Midwife you will assist in monitoring the service, in line with national standards and service specifications.

No two days are the same in the diabetes service. You will need to be naturally responsive to the changing demands on your priorities and workloads. The post holder will need to be confident enough to assist in driving local change to meet the expectations and standards set by the national programmes.

The role will be cross-site to cover both The Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary. You will need to be willing to travel flexibly to both sites and to outside events/meetings/visits as and when necessary.

Whilst the vacancy within the diabetes team is part time we would be able to support full time hours within other aspects of our Antenatal Services.

Main duties of the job

The part you play

In order to fulfil the needs of this role you will need to be caring and empathic, but also tenacious and resilient. Communication is key - so promoting good relationships with your colleagues and the wider multi-disciplinary team should come naturally to you.

Your role will involve planning and delivering plans of care and clinical advice to women working collaboratively with the diabetes team so you should have some experience in communicating complex information and be proactive when unexpected results arise.

You will also assist in the monitoring of the failsafe systems and should feel passionate about patient safety and experience. In order to maintain the level of data required, you will need to be confident with Microsoft Office applications, and have an extraordinary eye for detail.

Part of your role will be supporting the on-going training and education of colleagues, so an ability to present and talk publicly would be beneficial.

If you are keen to develop your career, and feel this describes your experience and abilities, we would be delighted to hear from you
