Teacher of Food Technology - Blackburn - October

A dedicated, qualified and passionate Food Technology Teacher is required to work at a popular secondary school in Blackburn, Lancashire, to join them teaching key stage 3 & 4 classes from after October half term for the remainder of the academic year, until July 2025. The school is a welcoming school with lots of diversity and increases academic achievement year on year.

The role is full time and you will be required to teach key stage 3 & 4 food technology and is open to ECTs as well as experienced teachers. It would be advantageous if you have experience teaching a second design & technology subject, however, this is not essential. It is essentila that you hold qualified teacher status (QTS)

You will be required to become fully involved within the department & school, like a permanent member of staff, and attend departmental meetings when required, and be available for parents' evenings as well as planning and delivering captivating, high standard lessons that will stretch the pupils in their learning. A key focus in the classroom is AfL which helps guide teaching, throughout the whole school.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree educated with a good classification, preferably in Food Technology or connected subjects.

Secondary QTS (PGCE, SCITT, B. Ed, QTS, etc) in Food Tech

Previous experience working with young people (which we can reference)

Experience of teaching in a Secondary School (which we can reference)

Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (essential, we can provide the training)

Up to date Prevent awareness & FGM training issued in the last 3 years (essential, again, we can provide the training)

Up to date behaviour management training (essential, however, training can be provided).

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application at a cost of GBP45.including history from Secondary School onward)
