Aberdeen, United Kingdom Det Norske Veritas Full time

Whether it's helping the Energy Industry transition to a decarbonised and sustainable future or helping protect life, property and the environment, every day, what you do, will make a difference. Our Marine Risk service line is part of the Offshore Infrastructure department here at DNV. We provide consultancy and advisory services, partnering with various stakeholders across a variety of offshore projects spanning the energy spectrum. We offer a portfolio of services that primarily focuses on traditional Oil and Gas whilst also looking to create leading indicators within renewables, decarbonisation, and future fuels.
We create partnerships in managing risk with our clients to find innovative and pragmatic solutions to our industry's most challenging problems. The risks associated with station keeping, loss of containment and the uncertainty of future fuels and technologies require a deep understanding of stakeholder requirements and technical disposition. Our primary work scope includes the application of our deep domain knowledge to identify risks associated with offshore vessels utilising dynamic positioning (DP) systems. We then assist our clients with mitigating these risks to safeguard life, property, and the environment (in alignment with DNV's purpose).
As a member of our team, supporting the delivery of services to customers, you'll be given real responsibility to manage and deliver global projects, whilst you continue to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of the Energy industry.
Based in either our Aberdeen, London, or Loughborough offices (or optionally, working remotely), you'll join a diverse group of Master Mariners and Marine, Electrical and Control System engineers providing advisory and consultancy services, in marine risk management, to a diverse range of clients. As a Senior Electrical and Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering technical work, managing projects, whilst also supporting and mentoring less experienced members of our team. Your strong technical background will ensure the successful delivery of risk analyses in compliance with international codes and guidelines, while meeting deadlines and budgetary requirements. Additionally, you will have ample opportunities to engage in project management and commercial activities, with the autonomy to lead and support technical proposal preparation.
Your expertise will be invaluable in helping shape our team's approach to creating innovative solutions for our clients, defining our future strategy, and enhancing our capabilities to identify opportunities for wider integration of our services. You'll also work closely with our business development team, contributing to winning new business with existing and potential clients, developing proposals, bidding for contracts, attending client meetings and building relationships with key stakeholders.
Conduct FMEA analysis and proving trials for DP vessels and Industrial Mission critical systems.
Engage in DP technical projects requiring consultancy and advisory services.
Lead and assist in the preparation of tenders and proposals for management of Marine Risk services.
Ensure you are at the cutting edge of technology and industry best practice while collaborating with bodies like IMCA, MTS, OCIMF and IMO in comprehending and implementing their guidance.
Develop skills in emerging areas such as hybrid technology, future fuels, and autonomous vessels.
That's why we offer a flexible reward and benefits package, allowing you to choose the things that matter most to you, including;

Excellent career development and progression opportunities.
Non Contractual Profit Share Scheme
26 days annual leave + bank holidays, opportunity for up to 10 days unpaid leave, sabbatical leave, flexible working options
Wellbeing benefits: (inc Private Medical and Dental Insurance, Health Assessments, Gym allowance). Company contribution towards eye tests and glasses (for computer/laptop users), and Flu Vaccinations. Also, our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provides free and confidential support for issues including work, family, relationships, money and health and we provide free fruit in our offices.
Financial Benefits: including a Pension Scheme with employer pension contributions up to 9%, Life Assurance and Income Protection.
Travel benefits: Season Ticket Loan, Cycle to Work Scheme, Electric Vehicle Salary Sacrifice Scheme (for personal use).
Mentored support towards professional accreditation and re-imbursement of relevant Professional Membership Fees (up to £570).
Access to employee retail discount site for high street and on-line shopping.
DNV is an Equal Opportunity Employer and gives consideration for employment to qualified applicants without regard to gender, religion, race, national or ethnic origin, cultural background, social group, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age or political opinion. Diversity is fundamental to our culture and we invite you to be part of this diversity.
If you share our passion for innovation and commitment to excellence, we encourage you to apply and bring your unique expertise to our dynamic and growing team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a proven track record of delivering quality results, along with:

Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Cybernetics, Robotics Engineering or equivalent (HNC/HND) combined with relevant industry experience.
Demonstrable experience in engineering consultancy, with a background in oil and gas and / or offshore Wind.
Knowledge of risk analysis techniques like Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Monte Carlo Simulations and more. Hands on experience with electrical and control systems of DP vessels like DP Control System, Power Management System, Propulsion Systems, Safety Systems, and IM equipment.
Proficiency in analysing control/electrical systems and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute key activities proactively across multiple projects simultaneously, whilst maintaining high performance and quality under pressure.
Curious and proactive, with a solution-oriented approach, demonstrating an ability to manage, develop, and lead projects independently with minimum supervision.
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with confidence in building professional relationships both internally and externally with customers.
