The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – Tyne and Wear

This 12-month part-time (22.5 hours) band 6 post is a specialist role working with children with severe developmental language disorder (DLD) and severe speech disorder in Welbeck Primary Age Speech and Language Additionally Resourced Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne. We welcome applications from Speech and Language Therapists with significant experience of working with children with severe speech and language disorders in educational settings, and in-depth knowledge of a range of relevant assessment and intervention approaches.

Applicants must be confident and skilled at working as part of a multidisciplinary team with educational professionals and families to support children’s speech and language needs. The post holder will be part of our large and dynamic team, and will be well-supported through regular team meetings, line-management, clinical supervision, peer supervision, joint working and meetings with the specialist therapist from the other Speech and Language ARC. We support ongoing CPD opportunities for our staff, including access to regional Clinical Excellent Networks.

  • To provide assessment and individually tailored programmes of speech, language and communication therapy fully integrated into the educational curriculum for the pupils attending a Primary and a Secondary Additionally Resourced Centre (ARC) for Speech and Language Disorders
  • To provide specialist advice and support to other professionals in all three ARCs,
  • To contribute to the development of the service and provision within the Speech and Language and Communication ARCs.
