Whisky Specialist

We are currently looking for a Full Time Whisky Ambassado r with a passion for whisky to join the team at Schloss Roxburghe Hotel and Golf Course.

The key role of the Whisky Ambassador is to support the Food and Beverage Operations Manager by taking ownership of specialist whisky bar; 1745. Your aim should be creating and ensuring a consistent beverage experience for our guests, exceeding expectations, and maintaining the highest service standards.

Steeped in character and history, Bar 1745 is our specialist Whisky Bar, featuring over 150 whiskies along with a high-quality selection of gins, cognacs and other spirits. This is where our guests can go to find their perfect dram, guided expertly by our Whisky Ambassador.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• You will be responsible for the welcome and personal care of the guests, ensuring a consistent luxury and personalised guest experience

• You are responsible for all the bar activities under the guidance of the F&B Ops Manager, including service, cost control and building our Whisky collection.

• You will support the F&B Ops Manager by providing creative ideas to drive revenue and create the ultimate guest experience, tailored to our Scottish spirit.

• You will support the F&B Ops Manager by assisting in collaborations with Brand Ambassadors and suppliers.

• You will identify opportunities to enhance quality standards regarding beverage, set up, presentation and atmosphere.

• You will take ownership over the bar, always ensuring cleanliness and ensure the bar is fully set, stocked and ready for service.

• You will manage guest recovery situations promptly and effectively

• You will oversee cash handling and cash up procedures

Your Knowledge & Capabilities:

• You have a passion for delivering exceptional guest service

• You have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels

• You are enthusiastic and have a positive personality with the ability to build genuine and trusting relationships

• You are resilient and flexible to adapt your work schedule to the demands of the business

• You are confident in handling guest complaints

• You use your initiative and take a practical approach to problem solving

• You are confident with completing administrative tasks and are proficient in Microsoft Office

Proven Experience/Qualifications:

• Proven experience 2+years of management within a quality bar, preferably within a luxury hotel environment .

• A very strong Whisky Knowledge and a passion for enhancing this.

• Previous experience in a quality bar with a whisky focus is essential.
