We have a great opportunity to join our client in Greenwich as a Manufacturing Supervisor on a full-time, permanent basis.


As the Manufacturing Supervisor, you will ensure the efficient running of the manufacturing line and Supervise a team to maximise people efficiency and delivery weekly output in a safe way and to the required quality.


This role has a working shift pattern with day shifts and night shifts.


THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT


  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Previous supervisory or line management experience.
  • Experience of managing of permanent and temporary staff.
  • Experience of Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Communication skills - written and oral.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent organizational skills – Able to plan production schedules and monitor materials availability.


JOB DESCRIPTION


Process:

  • Health of safety of staff is paramount, ensure all procedures and PPE is always followed.
  • Quality of product needs to be adhered to and processes to build must be enforced. Operator audits to hit target.
  • Implement and encourage a culture of continuous improvement, including process optimizations and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Understand production processes and documentation & how they are used to assemble products.
  • Ensure that all production orders are fully tracked, processed, and closed within the SAP system in a timely manner to maintain accurate production records and inventory control.
  • Ensure all Tooling and Equipment used is correct and in good working order.
  • Ensure all specs & drawings used are up to date.
  • Manage departmental scrap, generating scrap notes when required, using the investigation tracking system (ITS).
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule regular equipment maintenance and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure all department permits are within date.


Teamwork:

  • Mentor leading hands and staff. Ensure they understand what is required.
  • Build employee motivation & morale to be productive.
  • Communicate effectively with departmental staff & internal customers.
  • Address and resolve conflicts within the team to maintain a positive working environment.
  • Develop a system “Spot Award” to recognize and reward exceptional performance, boosting team morale.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with department colleagues, staff, and support depts.


Planning and Reporting:

  • Oversee the manufacture of products within the department to meet production plans, on time and to the right quality.
  • Consult with Inventory Control to ensure material availability.
  • Attend relevant meetings, ensuring you have relevant information.
  • Maintain relevant metrics (dashboards & efficiencies).
  • Keep team brief screens updated and ensure regular communication with teams.
  • Monitor, manage and report teams’ performance.


Training:

  • Ensure department Training Competency Records are up to date.
  • Ensure departmental training qualification/re-qualification plans are up to date.
  • Consult with Training Department, as necessary.
  • Encourage and implement cross-training programs to increase workforce flexibility and resilience.
  • Conduct & record yearly training reviews with departmental staff.


HSEQ:

  • Maintain a valid RISK & COSHH assessment folders.
  • Conduct yearly assessment reviews.
  • Ensure PPE is available.
  • Ensure company H&S policy is applied & ensure staff behave in a safe manner.
  • Ensure monitoring of staff compliance with the HSE rules.
  • Ensure Departmental health safety checks are conducted on time and equipment is labelled where required.
  • Ensure Hazardous Waste is removed from the area in a timely fashion.
  • Report all Accidents & Near Misses in a timely manner to HSE Department.
  • Enforce & adhere to local clean area rules (ESD, Washing hands etc.).
  • Deal with non-compliance.
  • Ensure ESD Protocols are followed by departmental staff.
  • Ensure infrastructure is in place.
  • Ensure department product paperwork/SAP is correctly completed.
  • Respond to product quality issues in a timely manner.
  • Lead improvements & assist in improvement implementation.
  • Record departmental efficiency data for manager reports.


Administrative:

  • Dealing with departmental personnel issues (holidays, sickness, timekeeping, grievances).
  • Manage departmental timesheets.
  • Raise all relevant production software accounts for staff.
  • Assisting with recruitment campaigns and attending interview panels if required helping towards the recruitment process.
