Milestone Infrastructure is currently seeking a Project Director to lead projects in our Civils Sector in Hampshire. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in significant projects, with responsibilities spanning from work winning to operational delivery, including commercial and strategic aspects, and project close-out/handover.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Client engagement and relationship management.
  • Leadership and input in the tender process and delivery of significant civil engineering projects (notionally £25m+), with a focus on meeting or outperforming gross income targets.
  • Ensuring the ongoing provision of an efficient, optimised operational solution.
  • Line management and leadership of a large project team.
  • Supporting further project development by identifying and pursuing local and wider opportunities.
  • Identifying and promoting improvement opportunities and innovations.
  • Engagement with key stakeholders and communities.
  • Strategic management of the supply chain.
  • Performance management and improvement against key business targets in line with the Milestone business plan – operational, financial, people, health/safety, quality, environmental, and client satisfaction.
  • Delivery of monthly operational and financial reporting – scrutiny, interrogation, and presentation.


Skills & Knowledge Requirements:


  • Civil Engineering or related qualification.
  • Customer-focused with a good experience of managing client priorities, communication, and expectations.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading maintenance teams or infrastructure projects for public or private sector clients.
  • Consistent record of meeting or exceeding business financial, productivity, growth, and safety targets.
  • Experience in work winning and tender preparation for civil engineering projects.
  • Strong competency in negotiations and the resolution of issues.
  • Ability to manage and lead large teams.


Key Role Attributes:


  • Ability to act as a senior leader on large projects.
  • Proficiency in forming collaborative relationships with senior client representatives and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience in dispute avoidance and resolution.
  • Capability to develop a team to manage the full range of large project management requirements, including operational, commercial, stakeholder management, planning/programming, and design management.
  • Ability to scrutinise project performance (PRM & CVR), provide constructive feedback on results, and develop improvement plans where needed.
