As the Senior Product Owner you will be assigned systems within the Technology Development or Data and Analytics portfolio. You will be accountable for analysing, prioritising and translating business requirements into technical units of data and analytics work that are implementable by a Scrum Agile development team.


As a Senior Product Owner you will be responsible for but not limited too;

• Creating and maintaining the product backlog, defining the acceptance criteria, sequencing and prioritisation of stories, ensuring stories are appropriately scoped and that developers have the correct understanding of what is required to be built.

• Work closely with development team to prioritise product backlog according to business needs and ensure valuable releases

• Be available and decisive when working with delivery teams as product owner. Help educate them with the best possible information and enable those teams to progress

• Provide sponsors and stakeholders with visibility of product development progress

• Communicate product features articulately to confirm the needs of users. Providing the development teams with an accurate understanding of the feature so they can estimate the size of the delivery effort. Resulting in a consistent number of story points being delivered per sprint (Key metric of agile teams).


As a Senior Product Owner you will have the following experience;

  • Develop Agile Backlogs: Build and maintain robust backlogs by gathering requirements, crafting detailed user stories, and incorporating stakeholder feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Communicate Technical Concepts: Translate complex technical details for non-technical stakeholders to define and prioritize features, refine project scope, and gather acceptance criteria for user stories.
  • Manage Competing Tasks: Balance multiple tasks and demands, make prioritization decisions swiftly, and address inquiries to keep development teams productive and avoid delays.
  • Optimize Workflow: Organize and manage time effectively to ensure timely preparation and delivery of features and user stories, optimizing workflow and development efficiency.
  • Engage Stakeholders: Actively listen, negotiate, and manage conflicts with stakeholders to clarify scope, identify issues, and collaborate on solutions with both business and technical teams.
  • Coordinate Across Teams: Work with other Product Owners to align development efforts, manage integrations and dependencies, and ensure high-quality, timely product delivery.
  • Identify and Mitigate Risks: Recognize delivery risks, propose mitigations, assess impacts on timelines, and escalate issues as necessary to maintain project progress.
  • Enhance Product Processes: Continuously evaluate and improve product processes within teams and across the program to boost efficiency, quality, and alignment with agile practices and product strategy.
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of industry trends, agile methodologies, and improvement opportunities, managing personal development proactively.
  • Mentor Team Members: Provide mentorship and support to other Product Owners and team members to ensure effective knowledge transfer and onboarding of new members.
  • Leverage Experience: Apply over 3 years of senior-level Product Owner experience on projects similar in size and nature.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Proficient in technical systems and data analysis.
  • Experienced in developing complex, high-transaction back-office systems.
  • Skilled in implementing Azure technologies (e.g., Functions, Storage, Service Bus).
  • Knowledgeable in PCI-compliant payment solutions and familiar with SFIA competency-based resources.
  • Transport Industry Experience: Have previous experience in the transport industry, with a focus on journey construction, fares, and payments.
