Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) Advisor
Reports to: Divisional Head of SHEQ (Water or Power)
Location: Thetford, Norfolk
Salary £45-50k
Job Purpose:
- To provide the business with guidance and support in relation to compliance with our SHEQ management systems and compliance with our legislative obligations.
- To provide coaching and mentoring to employees in relation to the use of our SHEQ management systems.
- To monitor and review the implementation of our SHEQ management systems via audits and inspections and positively challenge the effectiveness and suitability of our risk controls and their implementation across the business.
- To help improve the health and safety culture throughout the business and assist the business to aspire to health and safety excellence.
- To support the Divisional Head of SHEQ in the execution of their roles and responsibilities.
Required Qualifications & Professional Membership(s):
- NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (minimum)
- IOSH membership at an appropriate level (e.g. Tech IOSH)
- Relevant internal auditor qualifications
- Environmental awareness
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role, ideally within the utilities and infrastructure or construction industry.
- Theoretical & practical SHEQ expertise.
- Exposure to the application of SHEQ policies, processes & legislation.
- Project or programme safety planning, implementation, and compliance assessments.
- Implementing and monitoring SHEQ management systems.
- Viewing and updating risk assessments and method statements.
- Effectively coaching & influencing/supporting internal & external stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
- Effectively supporting all levels of operational staff.
- IT skill including MS Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised as well as being able to work effectively as part of a team
