Our financial services client us looking for a Legal Counsel. Working with the Head of Procurement, you’ll provide subject matter expertise on commercial agreement drafting, reviewing and negotiating. This is a highly commercial assignment that would suit someone who wants to be at the heart of both the business and Commercial team working on a range of legal documents to support the wider business. The role will require a deep understanding of contract law and relevant banking regulations as well as familiarity with financial service operations.



Requirements

  • Admission in England and Wales
  • Solid in-house legal experience in the Financial Services industry
  • Solid technical legal skills and Commercial Law experience
  • Able to work in-house with a mix of professionals and stakeholders and in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently, applying commercial acumen and sound legal judgment
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Logical and detail oriented
  • Adaptable to changing circumstances, goals and plans
  • Team player who is willing to assist others when necessary and appropriate
  • Excellent stakeholder management and strong communication skills at all levels
  • Qualified Solicitor – NQ to 3 years PQE



Responsibilities

  • Subject matter lead on all significant commercial agreements including all Terms and Conditions for the client’s products and services, payment services agreements, Client’s agreements, IT agreements, third party supplier agreements (including outsourcing agreement), as well as various internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Provide a prompt and efficient service to back-office departments, including Human Resources, General Administration, Financial Management, Risk & Compliance and Internal Assurance
  • Maintain a deep understanding of regulatory issues relevant to the client’s various commercial agreements, including operational resilience, outsourcing, data privacy and UK GDPR
  • Provide sound legal advice and support to various departments and stakeholders, including Senior Management, relating to commercial agreements with Clients & Suppliers.
  • Identify need for external counsel where appropriate and allocate work accordingly between in-house and external lawyers, ensuring cost effectiveness
  • Responsible for briefing and managing external counsel / legal assurance, ensuring adherence to budget and high-quality work product and deliverables
  • Assist on broader, wider legal risk management projects including drafting and implementing relevant policies and procedures
  • Ensure prompt reporting and escalation of legal risk and relevant matters to the Head of Department
  • Manage competing work priorities and deliver high quality and efficient service.
