Aerospace Controls Engineer

Eastern England, United Kingdom EVONA Full time

Drones kill and injure more than 5,000 Ukrainians per month—more than any other weapon. Our client is on a mission to stop that.

They make hand-launched missiles to neutralize short-range air threats. Small enough to carry three in a tactical vest and affordable for all ground units, our micro-missile will be the smallest, most cost-effective guided missile ever deployed.

Their goal: Turn the tide of war in Ukraine and provide NATO with a proven solution to drone threats.

We are looking for a Aerospace/Controls Engineer to join the founding team. You will develop and test algorithms for our counter-UAS mini-missiles, working on SWIL, HWIL, and aerodynamic design. They want a systems thinker with the resourcefulness to achieve what others believe impossible within compressed timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine control algorithms for missile guidance.
  • Contribute to aerodynamic design and optimization of fins and body.
  • Integrate and tune servos, sensors, and the flight controller.
  • Test and validate systems using SWIL and HWIL simulations and real-world trials.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience developing control algorithms, preferably for missiles, UAVs, or other airborne systems.
  • Proficiency in control theory, aerodynamics, trajectory optimization, and real-time systems.
  • System-level thinker with the ability to meet tight constraints.
  • Willingness to work from the UK.
  • High sense of urgency and adaptability in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical engineering or computer vision experience.
  • Willing to work in safe areas of Ukraine.
  • Passion for Ukraine’s defense.
  • Experience in startups or rapid R&D.
  • Interest in rocketry or missile systems.

Why Join them?

  • Impact: Build technology to protect lives and change the course of war.
  • Ownership: Shape the core algorithms for an innovative product.
  • Purpose: Collaborate with a passionate team delivering frontline solutions.
  • Compensation: Competitive salary and stock options (0-2%).
