Job Title: Aseptic Pharmacy Technician

Location: Carlisle, UK

Salary Range: Band 5


Key Responsibilities

  • Aseptic Preparation: Prepare and dispense sterile products such as intravenous medications, chemotherapy, and total parenteral nutrition using aseptic techniques.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct routine checks and maintain standards of cleanliness in aseptic areas. Participate in the quality assurance and validation processes.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all aseptic procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Training and Supervision: Assist in the training and mentoring of junior pharmacy staff and trainees in aseptic techniques and processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with pharmacists, other healthcare professionals, and clinical staff to ensure safe medication management and delivery.


Essential Qualifications

  • Education: NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent. A foundation degree in pharmacy services may also be required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a pharmacy setting, ideally within an aseptic unit, is beneficial.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and the legal frameworks governing the handling of medicines.


Skills Required

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow protocols meticulously to ensure patient safety.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address challenges in aseptic preparation and workflow.
