We are seeking an inspiring, dynamic and experienced Director of Operations & Supply to lead our manufacturing, supply chain and warehouse facility within the FMCG sector. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality of our production processes while managing the storage, handling, and distribution of goods. The Director of Operations & Supply will collaborate closely with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives, optimise resources, and achieve the company’s operational goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations of the manufacturing, supply chain, and warehouse facility, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production processes. Leading a team of over 100 personnel through (head of departments / managers)
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage the P&L for the operational facility, driving actions to achieve commercial targets and profitability. Ensure cost-effective operations by managing the manufacturing and warehouse budget.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a 3-5 year strategic plan to enhance operational capacity and support business growth.
  • Stakeholder Management: Be a strong voice in the leadership team, responding to commercial demands and influencing stakeholders to maintain operational efficiency and achieve successful outcomes.
  • Operational Efficiency: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve service levels. Implement and refine processes to meet quality and commercial demands.
  • Demand Management: Oversee capacity planning and production scheduling to meet customer demand efficiently. Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure manufacturing practices align with commercial needs.
  • Supply Chain Optimisation: Align production and warehouse activities with overall supply chain and logistics requirements to maximise output. Manage and optimise the supply chain to ensure timely delivery of materials and products.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the manufacturing and warehouse team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Ensure adequate resources and provide learning and development opportunities to enhance team skills.
  • Innovation and Production: Collaborate with the New Product Development (NPD) team to actualise the innovation pipeline and deliver products that meet the ‘Gold Standard’.
  • Inventory Management: Implement and maintain a commercially viable stock holding policy. Ensure accurate inventory management, including stock control and cycle counting.
  • Quality Assurance: Adhere to and enforce quality standards. Work with the Quality & Standards Director to implement audits and reviews, and drive improvements in line with accreditations and internal standards.
  • Health & Safety: Lead the Health & Safety team, promoting a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Technology and Innovation: Continuously seek ways to improve systems and processes through technology or machinery to achieve commercial outcomes.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, warehouse operations, inventory management, logistics, quality control, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial management and budgeting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to drive change and foster innovation.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies, and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing operations, warehouse, or logistics operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Would consider current Operations Directors or Heads of Operations.
  • Experience in leading large teams of 100 or more in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to understand and influence sales teams.
  • Demonstrable experience in operational P&L management.
  • Experience in leading Health & Safety initiatives and championing safe practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
