- Decompose high-level customer requirements into detailed lower-level specifications for system sub-elements, driving design decisions and technical choices.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure that electronic equipment is developed and delivered ‘On Time, On Cost, On Quality.’
- Provide leadership and technical direction throughout the project lifecycle, balancing cost, time, and performance objectives.
- Ensure designs meet stringent requirements for safety, reliability, and efficiency, particularly in high-performance and safety-critical environments.
- Manage technical risks and issues, proactively identifying solutions and adapting to changing project dynamics.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and customers, ensuring clear communication and providing expert guidance on electronic design and architectural considerations.
- Lead efforts to optimise the packaging, thermal management, and overall design for high-performance electronic equipment.
- Collaborate with teams across disciplines to address the unique challenges of designing for distributed power networks, sensitive data handling, and compact systems.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a candidate with a deep technical understanding of electronic systems and proven experience in delivering complex projects, ideally in the defence or similar high-tech industries.
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) with a strong Electronics focus and significant experience in:
- Digital electronics and microprocessor systems
- Power electronics for distributed power networks
- Designing equipment for safety-critical and harsh environments
- Designing systems for handling sensitive customer data
- Understanding of software and firmware development techniques
- Compact packaging and thermal management for high-performance electronics
- Familiarity with System on Chip (SoC) technologies, RF, Signal Processing, and Software Defined Radio would be beneficial.
- Experience in EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and Environmental Design for robust system performance would be advantageous.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear, actionable deliverables.
- Proactive decision-making abilities in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
