Join our client's dynamic banking team as an ESG Manager, where you will play a key role in advancing sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives.


As an ESG Manager, you will shape the bank’s sustainability commitments, engage stakeholders, oversee Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts, and guide the overall ESG strategy.


Key Responsibilities


  • ESG Strategy Development: Create and implement a comprehensive ESG strategy that aligns with the bank's goals and values.
  • Objective Setting and Initiative Prioritisation: Define clear objectives, identify key milestones, and prioritize initiatives to support business growth and manage risks.
  • Progress Reporting: Regularly report to leadership and the Board, tracking progress and ensuring alignment with objectives.


Collaboration and Engagement


  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work with colleagues across various departments, lead a dedicated working group, and provide ESG-related advice.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay updated on industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices.
  • External Representation: Engage with stakeholders, participate in industry forums, and represent the bank publicly.
  • Annual ESG Reporting: Oversee the creation of the annual ESG report to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Integration with HR and Marketing: Collaborate with HR and Marketing to embed ESG and DEI principles into the organization’s culture and communications.
  • Climate Change Working Group: Lead efforts to address critical climate change issues.


Experience Required


  • Strong background in ESG roles within financial institutions, with a solid understanding of UK ESG regulations and trends.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and a pragmatic approach to ESG implementation.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, integrity, and problem-solving abilities to drive meaningful change and innovation.
