Purpose of the Role:


The Emergency Preparedness Advisor will ensure that BYLOR construction platforms across the Hinkley Point C (HPC) construction site have adequate plans, trained personnel, sufficient and effective equipment and resources to deliver emergency management and incident response.


Responsibilities:


The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring that emergency arrangements are developed and effectively delivered on the HPC construction site.

Responsible for

  • Supervising a dedicated team of personnel whose purpose is to maintain and improve emergency and response arrangements.
  • Designing, developing and delivering emergency drills and exercises to ensure that personnel are ready and capable of responding to an emergency or incident.
  • Liaising with platform management teams to ensure that emergency planning is sufficient and reflects the requirements of the construction schedule.
  • Preparing plans and other documentation related to emergency planning and platform response requirements.
  • Storing, examining, inspecting, maintaining & testing equipment used for emergency or response purposes in compliance with legal, regulatory and manufacturers’ requirements to always ensure a high state of readiness.


Qualifications & Experience:

The successful candidate must:

  • be experienced in supervising personnel in fast moving, dynamic operational response type environments,
  • possess meticulous research & planning aptitudes and capabilities,
  • be capable of working on own initiative, evidencing excellent problem-solving skills,
  • be capable of demonstrating flexibility and drive,
  • be able to provide emergency management advice to platform and other management teams,
  • adequately represent the interests of the BYLOR Emergency Preparedness Lead at BYLOR organisational meetings or meetings with external stakeholders as directed.



Additional Information:

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.

Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
