The Opportunity

Our client, a leader in the financial services industry, is seeking an experienced Interim Group Data Privacy Officer to drive and manage its data privacy and compliance initiatives. This role will ensure that privacy standards and regulatory obligations are maintained across the organisation. With direct oversight of a specialised privacy team, this position offers the opportunity to influence the organisation’s privacy framework, advise on compliance at all levels, and lead impactful initiatives in data protection. This is an ideal role for a senior professional looking to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment.


Key Responsibilities


Leadership in Data Protection - Oversee data protection compliance across the organisation, with a focus on safeguarding both customer and employee data.

Privacy Advisory -Provide expert legal guidance on privacy matters, supporting various teams and ensuring alignment with industry best practices.

Policy and Procedure Development - Draft, update, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.

Risk Assessment and Privacy Impact - Oversee and conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs/PIAs) and advise on privacy implications in business projects.

Privacy Culture and Training - Drive data protection culture and awareness through targeted training programs and privacy campaigns.

Compliance Assurance - Conduct privacy compliance reviews, monitor internal controls, and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.


Key Requirements


Experience - Proven experience as a Data Protection Officer or senior privacy professional, ideally within the financial services sector.

Legal Qualification - Background in law with expertise in privacy regulations (certifications like CIPP, CIPM are beneficial).

Regulatory Knowledge - In-depth understanding of GDPR, DPA, PECR, and emerging privacy laws.

Leadership Skills - Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team while promoting compliance across the organisation.
