Senior Windows Engineer

A Financial Services company based in central London is currently seeking a Senior Windows Engineer at VP level, to get involved in a mix of project, operational, and administration duties.


This mix of duties will centre around a range of projects based on Microsoft Windows, VMware, and Cloud technologies, as well as responding to service requests in a timely manner.


You will be:

  • Providing support where appropriate in responding to service requests, and being a point of escalation for junior members of the team.
  • Supporting and managing the Windows server estate.
  • Supporting and managing Cisco infrastructure.
  • Designing and building several infrastructure applications running on windows platforms such as Citrix ADC/Xen App.
  • Security management utilising next generation security tools.
  • Managing the VMware/VSphere estate including VMware hosts, VCentre and Site Recovery manager across sites.
  • Assist in developing DELL/Pure SAN solutions to meet business needs by means of leveraging metro clustering and software integration.
  • Participate in monitoring and managing Server resources (disk space, event logs, backups etc.) and applications such as MS Exchange.
  • Participating in monitoring network performance and availability using tools such as Solarwinds and Azure Monitor.
  • Document Windows Server backup for on-prem/cloud and restore procedures, including disaster recovery procedures that rely on technology such as Netbackup Enterprise VMWare features.
  • Be able to contribute to routine and project hardware and software upgrades.
  • Participate in the strategy for infrastructure on-prem and cloud.


Your experience:

  • You will have strong experience in the following technologies:

Windows Server and file servers, Windows networking including TCP/IP, name resolution, IIS and MS Exchange and supporting email infrastructure, Active Directory, Cisco UCS, VMWare ESX / VSphere, Capacity and Performance analysis and monitoring, Active Directory, Cisco UCS, VMWare ESX / VSphere

  • Experience in supporting applications and servers, as well as project work.
  • Good organisation and verbal and written communication skills.


The role requires the candidate to participate on shift and an on-call rota.
