Role Purpose

  • To carry out enforcement functions, enabling the Council to meet its statutory obligations in environmental protection. This includes inspection, enforcement, education, and advice.
  • This role will be the senior officer for the team and will work closely with the Environmental Protection Team Leader to achieve excellent service delivery.


Responsibility

  • Operate in a customer-facing, front-line environment, representing the Council in often challenging circumstances.
  • As part of an enforcement team, you will work in accordance with statutory requirements and comply with relevant Council policies and procedures.
  • You will also represent the Council as a duly authorised officer, educating and collaborating with internal and external organisations to enhance public safety and wellbeing.


Requirements

  • 2 or more advanced level qualifications and maths and English at GCSE
  • Relevant level 6 qualification or direct evidence of relevant and substantial experience in two or more disciplines and managing a complex caseload through
  • Have an excellent knowledge of the range of legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Team as well as a good knowledge of the range of legislation enforced by the wider Public Protection Team.
  • Full current driving licence
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a demanding and pressurised environment independently and as a team
  • High standard of written and verbal presentation and communication skills
  • Competent in the use of standard computer systems
  • Aptitude for the technical and legal aspects of the discipline
