Senior Data Privacy Lawyer

Elevate seeks a Senior Data Privacy Lawyer for a 12-month maternity cover starting January 2025 for our customer, a leading telecommunications company. The role involves joining their Data Legal Compliance & Assurance team to support the Consumer function by providing specialist data legal advice. Responsibilities include supporting Consumer data-related activities such as marketing, new propositions, complex data protection in contracts, and AI use in Service & Support.
The position offers a hybrid work policy: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home, with locations in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Belfast, or Bristol.
Key Requirements (Must Haves):
- Qualified solicitor
- Expert understanding of UK and European data protection laws and practices
- IAPP CIPP/E or BCS Data Protection Certificate (desirable)

- Data Protection and digital laws
- Privacy & Electronic Communications Regulations
- AI
- Online Safety
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist data advice directly to Consumer stakeholders or alongside Consumer commercial lawyers.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance for Consumer’s activities.
- Advise on structuring and implementing key Consumer propositions.
- Review and advise on data protection impact assessments.
- Draft and negotiate data protection aspects of contracts.
- Deliver legal advice on data-related disputes and regulatory matters.
Requirements:
- Use standard systems, processes, and templates.
- Stay updated on data, digital, and online safety laws.
- Work independently and collaborate with colleagues.
- Mentor and coach junior team members.
- Support Principal Lawyer and Legal Director in performance management.
