Overview
Everest People Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Planner on behalf of a leading poultry processing factory. Our client is seeking a skilled professional to coordinate and plan all engineering activities across the site. Reporting to the Head of Engineering/Engineering Manager, you will ensure the efficient execution of maintenance schedules and effective resource deployment to support both production and non-production assets. Your role will be critical in establishing maintenance strategies, overseeing engineering projects, and ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Planning: Develop and manage a weekly maintenance plan to minimise downtime and maximise operational readiness. Schedule both planned and reactive maintenance work to minimise disruption to poultry processing operations.
- Coordination: Coordinate the efforts of internal engineering teams and external contractors. Ensure efficient use of resources and timely completion of maintenance tasks. Monitor contractor performance, manage permit-to-work systems, and enforce health and safety standards specific to poultry processing.
- CMMS Management: Utilize the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders, manage maintenance tasks, and maintain accurate records. Generate reports on key performance indicators such as equipment downtime and task completion rates.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance engineering efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety and compliance. Develop and refine processes to optimise equipment performance and engineering effectiveness within the poultry processing environment.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety legislation, with a focus on the specific requirements of poultry processing. Conduct risk assessments, enforce safe working practices, and ensure the use of necessary safety equipment.
- Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to align maintenance work with production schedules, ensuring minimal impact on poultry processing operations. Keep relevant teams informed of upcoming maintenance tasks and potential production impacts.
- Asset Care Programme: Support the development of a comprehensive asset care programme, including preventive maintenance (PPM) activities to extend equipment life and prevent breakdowns in the poultry processing facility.
- Audit Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities and records meet internal and external audit requirements, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and food safety standards applicable to poultry processing.
- Communication: Provide regular updates on the progress of maintenance tasks, address any issues impacting operations, and keep stakeholders informed of engineering activities.
- Project Management: Manage engineering-related site projects, including equipment upgrades and facility expansions, ensuring effective planning, resourcing, and execution.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, ensuring the CMMS is continuously updated with accurate information on asset performance, maintenance history, and completed work.
Essential Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience as an Engineering Planner or in a similar role within a poultry processing or manufacturing environment.
- CMMS Proficiency: Expertise in using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders and managing maintenance tasks.
- Health and Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, with specific knowledge of requirements for poultry processing.
- Continuous Improvement: Experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives and optimising engineering processes within a poultry processing setting.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide clear updates and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage engineering projects efficiently, from planning through to execution.
- Record Management: Strong organisational skills with experience in maintaining detailed records and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
