Our client in Peterhead has an exciting new opportunity for a Port Engineer to support the current Senior Port Engineer and the Ports Maintenance Department on a full time permanent basis.


Please note applicants must have the Right to Work in the UK and stay within a daily commute to Peterhead.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Design and preparation of engineering drawings in Autocad.
  • Preparation of tender documents.
  • Supervision of maintenance and construction work to ensure that the works are completed safely and to specification.
  • Coordination with the Ship Repair, Fish market and Marine departments to ensure that all facilities receive the required maintenance and inspection.
  • As Duty Port Engineer, you are expected to be on standby every 3rd weekend.


Essential Skills and experience -

  • Minimum of HNC/HND Civil Engineering.
  • Significant experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in maritime or coastal engineering would be beneficial.
  • Experience of managing civil, mechanical and electrical construction and maintenance works.
  • Detailed knowledge of the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Construction (Design and management) Regulations 2015.
  • Experience in the production of risk assessments and method statements.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential to ensure customers concerns are adequately addressed and maintenance staff and contractors are effectively deployed and clearly directed and supported.
  • Excellent IT skills and competent in Microsoft Office software and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in developing tender specifications, work scopes and Bills of Quantities.
