The Role – Ecologist Project Manager
- Be an important connection between interns / seasonal ecologists and our clients, as they embark on a steep learning curve with lots of ecological skills and consultancy skills to learn.
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner enabling the ecologist to initially focus on their ecology skills.
- You will act as the Project Manager with the more junior ecologists being the assistant Project Manager.
- With the assistant conducting surveys, you will lead the discussions about the findings, before being the point of contact for liaison with the client. The assistant will be in attendance in communications and meetings to learn effective communication.
- Whilst there won’t be any fieldwork required, office attendance will be required on a regular basis to ensure effective liaison with the team which will be crucial for the success of the junior ecologists.
You can expect:
- Project management
- Collaboration with resource coordinator
- Liaison with assistant project managers
- Liaison with clients
- Production and review of quotes
- Production and review of reports (the latter if a full member of CIEEM)
Essential Attributes:
- BNG
- Experience of habitat surveys (UK Habs/ NVC) and protected species surveys
- Understanding of survey design, industry best practice and mitigation measures
- Effective communication skills with multiple stakeholders
- Success at working independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable designing surveys and quoting for work
Desirable Attributes:
- CIEEM member or eligible
- Degree or equivalent in an ecology related discipline
- Experience of line managing and mentoring junior members of staff
- Comfortable generating new work and networking
