Role Overview:

At Merlin Power, we're seeking a dynamic Technical Sales Executive to play a pivotal role in our small but ambitious team. This multifaceted position offers a unique blend of account management and business development opportunities.


Account Management:

  • Nurture and grow existing accounts through proactive relationship management,
  • Identify new sales opportunities within current client base,
  • Provide comprehensive support for ongoing and future sales,
  • Prepare and deliver sales proposals, quotes, and contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies,
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions of sales agreements to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction,
  • Conduct regular account calls and visits to maintain strong client relationships,
  • Ensure clients are fully aware of our product offerings and solutions.


New Business Development:

  • Engage with qualified leads provided by our internal prospecting team,
  • Deliver compelling capability and product presentations,
  • Understand client needs and tailor solutions to win their business,
  • Promptly follow up on RFQs, RFIs, and visit requests.


Project Facilitation:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the sales process,
  • Act as a facilitator for projects involving other departments, ensuring customers are kept fully informed of progress
  • Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate project work and ensure customer satisfaction


Technical Expertise:

  • Leverage your knowledge of power systems and products to address client queries,
  • Continuously enhance your understanding of Merlin Power's products,
  • Embrace and enthusiastically communicate the technical advantages of our offerings.


Sales Strategy and Reporting:

  • Contribute to our ambitious goal of doubling commercial sales in the next 12 months,
  • Provide the sales director with regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates, highlighting achievements, challenges, and action plans,
  • Participate in planning, executing, and following up on our sales strategies,
  • Meticulously record all activities in our central CRM system.


Industry Engagement:

  • Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and competitors' activities to identify new business opportunities and maintain a competitive edge,
  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and events to network with potential customers and promote our products or services.


Person Specification:


Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in technical sales or a similar role, preferably within the same industry,
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of complex technical products or services,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with customers and build relationships,
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales and meet or exceed sales targets,
  • Solid understanding of sales principles and techniques, including prospecting, negotiation, and closing deals,
  • Self-motivated and results-driven with a proactive approach to sales,
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to provide innovative solutions to customer needs,
  • Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tools to manage customer interactions and track sales activities,
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Salary and Benefits:


Salary:

Up to £45,000.00 per year.

Location:

This position is based at our Exeter office. You will be required to work in person with some travel to meet clients and attend industry events. Our operating hours are 0830-1730 Monday to Thursday and 0830-1400 on Friday.
