Data Centre Project Director (London)

Are you a seasoned Project Director with a passion for delivering cutting-edge data centre solutions?

Our client, a leading general contractor specialising in hyperscale data centres, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Centre Project Director to lead and manage complex construction projects from inception to completion.

Role Accountabilities:

You will be responsible for the overall management of all stages of hyperscale data centre construction projects, encompassing pre-construction, construction, and close-out/fit-up. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Pre-Construction:
    • Developing and implementing the Master Project Schedule and Budget
    • Overseeing contractor pre-qualification, tendering, and analysis
    • Supporting contract negotiations and vendor management
  • Construction:
    • Managing main contractors and subcontractors on-site
    • Coordinating value engineering initiatives
    • Collaborating with the client's commercial and project control teams
    • Monitoring, tracking, and analysing project schedules
  • Close-out/Fit-up:
    • Initiating the close-out process well in advance of project completion
    • Establishing close-out documentation requirements and tracking document collection
    • Assisting with final inspections and occupancy processes
    • Coordinating owner-direct vendor and consultant activities

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Proven track record in managing large-scale data centre construction projects
  • Deep understanding of construction methodologies, project scheduling, and cost control
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage diverse teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of data centre infrastructure and systems
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
