On behalf of our EPC client, we are seeking a Senior Buyer to support a major MoD project. This is an initial 12-month contract, extendable for up to 3 years, subject to review.

This role is offered hybrid. Based out of Christchurch, Dorset, three days per week on-site.

  • The position is inside IR35.
  • Offering a rate of £470 per day.
  • Candidates are required to undergo SC clearance,
  • (UK Nationals, British-born only).

Job Purpose:

The Senior Buyer will support the Procurement Manager in executing procurement processes for a major MoD project. This includes supplier selection, evaluation, risk management, and ensuring compliance with EN9100 standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the selection, assessment, and approval of new suppliers, while reviewing existing suppliers to ensure compliance with EN9100 and audit standards.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on business insights, supplier analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct supplier site assessments, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring follow-up actions are completed and supervise the allocation of tasks for direct reports, ensuring procurement records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Identify and address supplier risks, such as financial instability, cybersecurity threats, and product safety, to maintain business continuity.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong procurement experience, ideally within the UK Defence Sector and knowledge of MoD procurement processes.
  • In-depth understanding of legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations, with excellent risk assessment and supplier management skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions, manage stakeholders, and address procurement challenges.
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to improving processes and driving efficiency.
