What you’ll be doing as a Principal Mechanical Engineer:

  • Define Success - Set precise technical requirements with Project Definition Briefs, ensuring projects start strong.
  • Innovate Continuously - Refine Technical Asset Standards to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in our processes.

  • Champion Regulations -Uphold Engineering Regulatory standards in Mechanical Engineering to ensure our assets thrive.
  • Design Solutions - Lead the creation of innovative designs for the water and wastewater industries.

  • Synergize Teams - Work with multi-disciplinary teams to tackle engineering challenges and ensure adherence to strict design codes.

Hybrid – Clearwater Court, Reading, you will be required to attend the office or site 3-4 days a week

36 hours a week

You will be a driver and have access to a car; this role comes with £5.8k car allowance.


What you should bring to the role:

  • Be degree qualified or equivalent in mechanical engineering with charters through a relevant awarding body.
  • A Mechanical Engineering background in one or more sludge digestion and treatment, biogas and CHP systems, water and wastewater treatment, pumps/piping systems, or process equipment is essential.
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment to achieve Compliance with our Engineering regulatory requirements.
  • Had exposure to lead design engineering roles.
  • Exposure to supporting quantity surveyors/cost estimating teams in the scope development for cost modelling and budgetary proposals.
