Offshore Substation Commissioning Rep

Eden Scott are pleased to be supporting their Offshore Wind Developer client with the appointment of a an Offshore Substation Commissioning Representative. This position is based from the Wallsend facility where the substation is currently under construction.

The position is offered on a 6 Month initial contract but likely to be extended. The position sits out with IR35 with a day rate of up to circa £800 per day.

Summary of Assignment:

The Offshore Commissioning Rep is responsible for monitoring all installation and commissioning activities during the offshore substation construction and commissioning phase at Wallsend. The Offshore Commissioning Rep reports to the Windfarm Commissioning Lead. The Offshore Commissioning Rep will report progress on SEL activities against the SEL programme.

Responsibilities

• Liaison with SEL Commissioning Lead to coordinate witnessing of Commissioning activities as identified within the SEL Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) and programme
• Provide a weekly report on progress of SEL Commissioning activities to Windfarm Commissioning Lead and Substation Package Manager
• Participate and Lead on site Commissioning Meetings to coordinate the Commissioning scopes
• Attend Site Acceptance Tests on behalf of the organisation to ensure equipment is tested in line with ITP, relevant standards and in line with the organisations Employers Requirements
• Manage interface commissioning activities between SEL and the organisations equipment
• Liaison with SEL quality team to inspect and sign off of punch list items
• Review relevant Contractor Commissioning Programmes and Commissioning documentation to confirm it meets the needs of Employers Requirements and relevant standards
• Manage and coordinate the organisations Commissioning resources to oversee activities
• Create operational instructions/guides on each item of equipment that can be used for the lifetime of the project.
• Assist the relevant Package Engineers to answer TQ’s, review design, raise issues, provide guidance and advice from lessons learnt and previous experience
• Close collaboration with the Contractor Commissioning Teams and Lead SAP to effectively produce and plan the Commissioning Switching Programmes to facilitate the first time Energisation of equipment and subsequent live Commissioning tests

Skills:

• Good communicator
• Familiar with standard office IT systems such as Microsoft
• Can lead and manage teams of people

Knowledge:

• 10 Years Commissioning Experience
• Extensive knowledge of Power Systems, Equipment, SCADA and Protection Systems
• Previously experience working for or alongside SEL and Vestas (Desirable)
• Previous held a similar position either for Client or Contractor
• Worked in High Voltage Substations up to 220kV and held Authorisation (minimum Competent Person)

Qualifications:

• Electrical apprenticeship and higher education in electrical systems
• GWO’s (Desirable)
