Our marine based client requires a Shore Support Manager for a full-time, permanent position to be based in Gourock. This role will assist the Head of Shore Support and Logistics. The Shore Support Manager will provide support to a fleet of vessels whilst in service and during dry dock and repairs and will be accountable for ensuring the optimal operating and financial performance of the department.


THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

  • At least 5 years’ experience of leading and managing workshop & front-line, field support operations, in an engineering, or technical, environment.
  • At least 10, or more, years’ experience of working in marine (or similar) engineering, or technical, support service environments.
  • A minimum of an HNC level of engineering qualification, or equivalence.
  • Can demonstrate in an engineering, or technical, environment: strong leadership in health & safety management.
  • Experience of development & use of robust and comprehensive planning processes and procedures.
  • Experience in optimising and improving service performance.
  • Experience of the development & use of continuous improvement processes that lead to measurable service improvements.
  • Experience of the development & and use of quality assurance processes that underpin service delivery.
  • High levels of competence in Microsoft Excel and Word etc.
  • A formal safety management qualification (desirable).
  • Competence in Microsoft Power suit of applications (desirable).


JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Delivery of shore-based fleet technical and engineering services in support of vessel safety, compliance and reliability.
  • Ensure all Shore Support services: are delivered efficiently, effectively, in the quickest practical timescale; provide value for money and a quality assured outcome.
  • Duty of care and management of, direct and indirect employees in Shore Services department.
  • The provision of services in compliance with:
  • Internal engineering standards & policies as developed by Standards & Performance team.
  • The International Safety Management (ISM) Code.
  • Class and statutory requirements.
  • Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Ensuring compliance from the whole team with the Shore Support Safety Management System.
  • The control and management of the department's budget including accurate forecasting.
  • Ensuring all incidents, defects, and audit findings are investigated and analysed and corrective action is effectively and timeously implemented.
  • The development and management of continuous improvement initiatives to ensure optimal efficiency, effectiveness and value for money from the Shore Support team.
  • Management of department processes, in line with company policies; and ensuring consultation is completed with reviewers when adding, amending, deleting, and reviewing owned processes.
  • Ensure compliance in all areas of safety and environmental policy and requirements.
  • Devise learning and development plans across the team.
  • Implement strategies and actions to improve performance where necessary.
  • Fully responsible for safety and environmental management at workshop.
  • Ensure that all appropriate risk assessments and safe systems of work are in place for use of workshop facilities and processes.
  • Ensure all workshop equipment is fully compliant with all current legislation and regulations.
  • Ensure all workshop users are trained and competent to safely utilise workshop equipment.
  • Create, develop and implement agreed KPIs to monitor performance by self and others.
  • Actively get measurable feedback from vessel staff and Technical Superintendents on the standard and quality of services provided.
  • Comply with and promote safety rules and procedures, challenge unsafe behaviour, and ensure all accidents, near misses are reported in-line with the company’s lifesaving rules.
  • Provide support and ensure follow-up is accomplished to conclusion for any internal or external audits, management reports or inspections in your area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for operational management of the Shore Support budget.
  • Evaluate and track the cost for support provided to the Major and Small Vessel Fleets.
