Bourne’s Restaurant, located within the Denby Pottery Visitors Centre is recruiting for a permanent cake & pastry Baker/catering assistant to join their busy team. In this role you will be making cakes, pasty and tray-bakes for two busy café’s approximately 50% of your time and for holiday and sickness cover, with the rest of the time, supporting the front of house team. You will be joining a highly experienced and motivated team constantly working towards excellence. The Denby Pottery Visitor Centre prides itself on the high standards of home cooked food, served from their kitchen.
We are currently recruiting for a passionate cake and pastry Baker/catering assistant who can follow recipes to join our team. The ideal candidate for this position will have previous experience in preparing good home-made cakes and pastries and enjoys working in a busy restaurant environment who can multi-task effectively and can take direction well.
The hours for the role are 18 hours per week, working three days out of seven, including weekends and Bank Holidays. Any cover for team absence or holiday that you would be able to provide on an ad-hoc basis would be beneficial.
*The job includes but is not limited to:*
* Preparing a wide variety of cakes such as sponges, scones and pies daily following traditional and modern recipes.
* Baking to a high standard.
* Following all practices and procedures for hygiene and food safety.
* Decorating cakes and pastries using different icings and toppings to a high standard.
* Monitor stock and baking ingredients.
* Adhering to Health and Safety policies and procedures, identifying hazards.
* Serving front of house when not baking.
Key Accountabilities for the role include but are not limited to:
* Baking for daily sales including special functions such as buffets, children’s parties, and high-profile events
* Completing all documentation required legally and by Denby
* Working closely with managers on all food related issues.
* Ensuring food preparation areas are clean and tidy.
* Ensuring all equipment used is safe and clean reporting any issues to the manager or supervisor.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to bring flair and imagination to the role for eye catching presentation and will ideally have previous experience in the preparation and cooking of a variety of cakes, pastries, and fancies.
