Position title: Senior Engineer, Electronics

Reports to: Principal Engineer, Electronics

Position summary:

To work with an experienced team of engineers throughout the product development process to prototype, design, build and test innovative medical equipment. By applying your knowledge of electronics and electrical systems, components, instruments and testing you'll have the opportunity to see your designs through from inception to implementation as part of a radiotherapy delivery system for treating cancer.

Relevant Knowledge and Skill requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in electronics/electrical engineering.
  • Proven track record in electrical/electronics development of medical products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent skills in the design of electronics and electrical systems, schematics and PCB layout.
  • Advanced skills in analysis, simulation and prototyping techniques to develop electronics and electrical systems.
  • Evaluation of novel technologies and how to integrate into a product.
  • Advanced skills in analogue, digital, power and mixed signal electronics design.
  • Report and document writing.
  • Design to meet regulatory standards.
  • Design for test, manufacture and serviceability.
  • Solid understanding of good documentation process.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Efficiently analyze problems and use your experience and knowledge of engineering fundamentals to create a specification and solution that meets the product requirements.
  • Directing, coaching, mentoring and leadership of engineers.
  • Electrical/electronic circuit and systems analysis.

Key responsibilities
  • Work with the electronics engineering team to deliver new designs and keep existing designs up to date.
  • Maintain and communicate knowledge of industry best practice and to take steps to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.
  • Deliver engineering and project documentation.
  • Follow engineering process, as defined by the business.
  • Analyze reports, drawings, tests and other data to plan and design work.
  • Attend engineering meetings.
  • Provide engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the product.
  • Collaborate with other engineers of different disciplines.
  • Evaluate and communicate technical and project risk.

Cancer is one of the biggest killers that we face today with 1 in 5 people diagnosed at some point in their life, it is something that affects us all. 50% of all patients diagnosed with cancer should receive Radiation Therapy as part of their treatment but due to the, size and complexity of current technology, the number that do is around half of that.

Current Radiation Therapy is delivered with a patient lay on a table while a large machine is rotated around them delivering radiation from different angles to kill the tumour. Lay on a table, many patients report that they feel like a passenger in their treatment feeling vulnerable through the entire process. Leo Cancer Care was founded with one clear goal, to bring a more human way to treat cancer and empower patients to face treatment on their feet.
