Job Title: Light Vehicle Technician
Salary: £27,765.00 to £32,043.00 (with earnings potential £37,470.31)
Hours: 37 hours a week, Permanent
Location: Melton, East Yorkshire, HU14 3BQ
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing essential servicing, maintenance, and repairs to all types of vehicles, plant, and specialist vehicle equipment as well as to maintain and fit operational equipment in vehicles as required. The role includes working in a small team and independent working, where you will be required to use your own initiative for problem solving and be capable of working to a high standard.

The appropriately skilled employee will be required to provide standby cover on a rota basis for the purposes of being on call to provide a 24/7 maintenance response for the Humberside Fire and Rescue Services fleet. The employees on the call-out scheme are to provide one period of cover during Monday - Thursday and 1 in 5 weekends cover (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and standby payment of 17% of salary will be paid as a monthly fixed payment.

On the 1st April 2015 Humberside Police and Humberside Fire and Rescue Services transferred the provision of vehicle and operational equipment maintenance and fleet management services to their joint venture company Emergency Services Fleet Management (Humberside) Limited based at Melton, East Yorkshire, and this is an exciting opportunity to work within this single service function.
The vehicle and equipment workshop collaboration is a great example of how the emergency services in the Humber area can work together to provide a state of the art facility at a much lower cost. Local blue light services are proving that together they can provide a great service to the public even in the face of severe financial pressure.
