You will be required to:

  • Review requirements and specifications, and define test conditions.
  • Analyse test requirements, design and build test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria. Prioritise sets of tests in order to carry out those most important within a limited timebox.
  • Interpret and execute sets of moderately complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards, recording and reporting outcomes.
  • Analyse test activities and results. · Report test activities and results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Use normal operating facilities, test scripts, diagnostic tools, technical manuals and system documentation to identify, diagnose and report on basic system errors.
  • Identify and report issues and risks associated with own work.
  • Record explicit details of failing test cases, such that project teams can understand and reproduce issues found.

Essential Skills and experience

  • Having an eye for detail is an important skill for a junior software tester, as you will be tasked with applying specific quality standards to tasks undertaken to ensure that deliverables are accurate and complete.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal.
  • Be able to meet targets, acting and/or fulfilling agreements even when adverse circumstances prevail.
  • Be effective at communicating with stakeholders in writing, such as through report writing and via email.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience using SQL Databases including stored procedures
  • Experience of Project Management tools such as Jira
  • Experience of Test Management tools such as X-Ray

Communicate and Influencing

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Explain technical acronyms and jargon in plain English
  • Never use inappropriate or offensive language

Developing Self and Others

  • Maintain a professional development qualification (Azure or SQL based)
