Job summary

To perform maintenance, repair and installation task's supporting the business' equipment and processes. Working on a rolling shift system (earlies, Days, Lates), task's will be a mixture of proactive and reactive work undertaken to continually improve machine availability and reliability. To work within the requirements of the Company's Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental management systems.

Specific responsibilities

Provide a high quality proactive and reactive maintenance service to Operations. Support the installation of new equipment and processes as well as layout and location changes. Engage in problem solving and lean techniques, identifying root cause, and implementing corrective countermeasures. To maintain the workshop area and subsequent spares availability to ensure minimum downtime. complete all necessary documentation regarding jobs carried out (paper and electronic) reporting clearly and concisely. Conduct PUWER assessments on newly installed equipment and processes and those that are relocated or modified. To work within the Company's Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental management systems. Create and periodically update risk assessments and SSOW (safe systems of work) relating to maintenance tasks. Responsible for the day to day running and periodic inspection of the following key systems:
  • Dust extraction (including the spark suppression system)
  • LEV Testing
  • Compressed air
  • Electrical Installations in relation to Operation's (those in the factory space)

To keep up to date with regulations, HSE guidance and Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP) documents that relate to the responsibilities of the Maintenance team. Support Operations by investigating improvements and providing inhouse modification to existing equipment to improve safety, quality, capacity and reliability. To conduct work which has legal and regulatory requirements and ensure that the work undertaken can be appropriately evidenced. Be responsible for contactors performing maintenance and repair tasks including site inductions. To evaluate new/alternative vendors for consumables, piping, belts, etc. complete all necessary documentation regarding jobs carried out (paper and electronic) reporting clearly and concisely.

Compliance; ensure compliance with business systems, processes, certification schemes, regulations and legislation relevant to the scope of your role. Support internal quality controls and audits to demonstrate compliance.

Job holder requirements

Essential:
  • Formal qualification in Electromechanical engineering (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • Strong and demonstrable experience of reactive & pro-active maintenance
  • Process improvement experience
  • Able to communicate information in verbal and written form
  • Able to conduct business using appropriate electronic system and IT packages
  • Knowledge of 3 phase equipment, machinery and systems.

Preferred:
  • Wiring Regulations City & Guilds 2382 (to latest edition) or equivalent
  • Equipment installation experience
  • Experience of LOLER regulations.
  • Knowledge of 5s and lean initiatives
  • Experience of PUWER regulations
  • Able to handle people issues in a sensitive, fair and consistent manner
