Business Continuity Manager

The Role:
- work with Aspen Service Owners to develop and maintain a corporate wide BCP program that addresses business recovery and emergency response management, in line with regulatory requirements e.g., SS1 / 21.
- validate operational policies and frameworks ensuring effective links to Incident Management Processes.
- review and enhance the internal controls framework and build a corporate testing program.
- build and execute a training program for Gold and Silver Teams.
- ensure effective Third-Party contractual provisions and oversight in line with regulatory requirements for resiliency.
- role will work collaboratively across Aspen functions and support the build and scheduling of testing for 2024.
- Duration of contract - 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and Planning
- and oversee the execution of a comprehensive plan to deliver/enhance the organizations BCP/Resilience readiness at an entity, geography, and office level.
- a framework to manage all business continuity lifecycle activities including risk assessment, business impact analysis, testing, plan maintenance and updates.
- clear roles and responsibilities for the development, operation, and oversight of the resiliency of Group provided services, accountable to legal entities.
- organizational structure for ongoing maintenance and oversight of BCP within the organization with a clear plan for moving this to BAU in a sustainable manner.
- guidelines for the development of Third Party/Material Outsource BCPs that serve/support the recovery of business operations.
Policy, Process and Procedures
- Aspen’s Group BCP Policy, working with entities to deliver locally aligned policies.
- a refresh of Business Continuity Plans, working with Stakeholders to facilitate quality inputs/outputs and standardization where appropriate.
- processes for Aspen Service Company to deliver reporting requirements for the UK entity Operational Resiliency legislation.
- business process recovery testing methodologies, plans, and coordinates the testing of recovery including tabletop exercises and full interruption tests.
- targeted Playbooks to support key event responses.
- the build of the Vendor Risk Assessment process to properly assess a vendor’s recovery strategy.
Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus
- closely with Key Stakeholders, Internal Audit and Risk functions, creating and delivering concise updates on progress against plan.
- and nurtures relationships creating high levels of trust and demonstrating a respect for business priorities and commitments through a flexible and supportive approach.
- as a point of reference to guide and advise others to ensure the sharing of knowledge and best practice.
Technical Performance
- your expertise and pragmatism, in facilitating working sessions with functional and business teams to deliver business continuity plans.
- alignment of regulatory requirements under SS1 / 21 and ensure assessments built into functional response plans. RTO’s to be aligned with IT response times.
- business consideration of Third-Party partners in the development of Aspen functional plans and in respect of BCP contractual compliance.
- a testing framework, aligned to business priorities and regulatory requirements.
- training for key personnel in the correct implementation of BC & DR processes and standards to ensure recoverability of business processes and supporting services.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Sigma Qualified
- comprehensive experience of project delivery within business continuity.
- offer experience of working in the Insurance industry.
- have built an operational BCP capability
- strong interpersonal and (verbal and written) communication skills to build relationships and trust at all levels with internal customers.
- a consultative approach to working across the business and suppliers, flexing your approach to the maturity of the organization.
- to produce detailed reports at various levels.
- to handle a set of moving priorities and adapting to business priorities/capacity.
