Overview

We are looking for an experienced Manual Software Tester to strengthen our testing team to support the quality assurance of MyKnowledgeMap’s web and mobile apps. You will ideally have 7+ years of hands on experience of testing large scale multi-organisational hierarchical systems and performing user role and organisation membership visibility testing with an emphasis on data protection. The successful candidate will be a natural communicator with an excellent eye for detail and a passion for quality. Good technical ability and a proven aptitude for problem-solving are essential.

Key responsibilities:

Conducting manual exploratory testing.

Interpreting technical documents in order to translate functional specifications into test cases.

Managing, planning, preparing and executing detailed test cases.

Working closely with developers to eliminate any potential issues at the development and deployment stage.

Executing regression test cases to ensure the overall stability of existing features and the overall product.

Conducting overall quality assessments of systems and products e.g. layout, presentation, consistency, grammar, punctuation and spelling.

Cross-browser compatibility testing.

Mobile app testing on iOS and Android devices.

Reporting incidents using existing bug tracking system (SpiraTeam) and providing test results and feedback to the development team.

Attend daily stand ups to report back to the wider team.

Attending planning meetings and assisting with the creation of user stories and their acceptance criteria.

Investigating customer support issues and escalating them to the development team.

Essential skills & experience:

Experience of testing multi-organisational hierarchical structures with a variety of user roles and role functionality.

Confidence in testing user role and organisation membership visibility with a clear understanding of data protection.

Experience of testing mobile apps.

A wide understanding of test methodologies and approaches to write efficient and effective test cases.

Communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with all levels of company staff.

Ability to follow processes and procedures appropriately.

Ability to work individually and as part of a team.

Ability to self-manage and prioritise, keeping track of different projects to meet deadlines.

Excellent English language skills to spot grammar, spelling and punctuation errors.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Acute attention to detail.

Possess patience and perseverance (especially important in the repetitive nature of manual regression testing).

Ability to stay focused under pressure.

Ability to work in a logical, methodical yet creative manner e.g. innovative thinking which pushes software to breaking point.

Aptitude for identifying opportunities for product improvement.

A passion for reliable, elegant, and usable software.

Desirable

ISEB or ISTQB Testing Certified.

Experience testing Accessibility and Usability against WCAG guidelines.
