About nkoda:

nkoda is a growing ecosystem of digital products and services, created for musicians, students, teachers, institutions and music publishers. Today, we have three different products:

nkoda music: a digital subscription service for sheet music. So like Spotify, but for the materials musicians use to learn, practice, play and perform music. This product is sold to individual subscribers, and to schools, colleges, universities, libraries, orchestras etc.

ARIA-i: a fine-tuned language model, focused on music education, which is trained on specific data to make it valuable for our users.

Kordl: a B2B SaaS platform that will power the most important part of our music publishing partners’ businesses.

About the Role:

As a pivotal member of the product and development team, you will conduct research and design work to create intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces across all nkoda products, to ensure an engaging and seamless user experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead UI design efforts across all nkoda products, collaborating with key stakeholders to guide product strategy, plan and execute UI designs, and prioritise UI design tasks.
  • Facilitate workshops, rapidly ideate and prototype UI solutions, and work with the development team to implement designs into production.
  • Conceptualise UI designs for new products and projects, ensuring consistency and coherence across all nkoda products.
  • Proactively explore and share new UI design tools and processes to enhance nkoda’s product suite.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum five years of UI design experience, with a strong understanding of user experience and interface design principles.
  • Excellent portfolio showcasing experience in leading and creating UI designs for shipped products and services.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proven proficiency in the use of UI design tools.
  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to work closely with product managers, developers, and QAs in an agile environment.
  • Motivated, proactive, and well-organised with strong time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Practical understanding of creating real-world UI designs, given time and technical constraints.

Desirable Experience & Skills:

  • Knowledge of classical music and/or the ability to read sheet music.
  • Experience in line management and working in-house in a start-up organisation.
