Ignata Finance are exclusively engaged on a 12-18 month fixed term contract for a well known high street brand. The role would suit someone who has worked as a technical Group Financial Controller before and who is used to a fast paced retail environment. This is an exciting opportunity to join the business on the next stage of their growth.

Financial Accounting:

  • Ensure strong financial control environment across Finance and the wider business, assessing the risk and reward of resource and cost.
  • Ensure high quality and accurate accounting environment, adding rigour and value to reviews. Including:
  • monthly balance reconciliations
  • complex accounting standards and scenarios
  • Provisions and accounting judgements, providing technical answers and solutions
  • Oversee the budgeting and monthly management of Head Office cost centres, balance sheet and accounting cash flow.
  • Identify risks and opportunities with both a historic and forecast mindset. Including variance and cost analysis with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and savings.
  • Management of all four general ledgers:
  • Responsible for the management of the year end audit and statutory accounting with the Senior Financial Accounting Manager. Proactively ensuring we are one step ahead on new regulations, planning and supporting audit schedules.

Tax compliance

  • Responsible of all UK and International Tax, VAT and indirect tax compliance
  • Monthly compliance with all technical and tax requirements including UK & EU VAT and Intrastat returns, R&D tax credits, capital allowances, international transfer pricing.
  • Identify corporation tax, VAT and payroll tax risks and opportunities, and implement changes where appropriate.
  • Main lead on EU customs, import/export VAT, duty tax processes and accounting, ensuring get the appropriate tax advice where needed.

Treasury

  • Cash flow management including forecasts and daily/weekly monitoring and reporting.
  • Management of the Revolving Credit Facility drawdowns and covenant compliance
  • Ownership of the FX policy, from setting FX rates, buying forward USD deals, and modelling the FX P&L and BS impact.
  • Key contact and relationship management with our Bank.

Accounts receivable and payable:

  • Ensure both the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams operate effectively, accurately, continually driving operational efficiencies.
  • Govern the payment process, adding review and governance to processes and policies.
  • Drive business improvements in cost management and ensure payment schedule aligns to cash flow requirements.
  • Ensure financial compliance around suppliers.
  • Close management of trade debtors, cash collection and bad debt analysis.
  • Control of credit risk, including T&C’s, in our growing Wholesale channels.
  • Build new processes and controls around all new business developments.

Management /Leadership of Financial Accounting and Accounts Payable & Receivables Teams

  • Leadership of the teams to ensure the smooth operation of various functions.
  • Ongoing training, development and mentoring of direct reports ad wider team.
  • Ability to re-organise and re-prioritise to react to ad-hoc projects and issues, working with colleagues across the business.

What you’ll need:

Successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills and behaviours:

Fully Qualified Accountant (ACCA / ACA or equivalent), 5+ years post qualified. Strong technical accounting and tax skills

Preferred 2+ years industry experience

High levels of emotional intelligence

Proven experience managing, leading and developing a large team

Relationship building – being able to develop effective relationships across all areas of the business that help drive business success

Commercial acumen – the ability to make commercial decisions that support employees and the business alike

Project management – the ability to effectively manage ad hoc projects and annual processes

Strong, personable communicator with gravitas and ability to influence colleagues of all levels

Resilience – the ability to work under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced and busy retail environment

IT skills – a solid understanding of systems and processes to allow us to provide an efficient and effective service. Intermediate-Advanced Excel skills.

Hands on, detail oriented but can cut through noise to problem solve, simplify issues, articulate them concisely and drive results

Excellent eye for detail, diligent knowledge of accounting regulations

This role operates on a hybrid working model, 2 days in and 3 days at home. They are based in Central London and offer a fun working enviornment.
