Cranleigh STEM is working with a leading chemical brand that has an exciting opportunity for a Formulation Chemist to join the team. Your role will be to develop high-performance products to support clients in their sport performance division. About the Role

The primary objective of this position is to serve as the expert in formulation chemistry, contributing to a dynamic and growing R&D team. This team is responsible for developing high-performance products, including race-winning lubricants and formulas used at the top levels of competition. As a formulation chemist, you will play a crucial role in creating innovative products for bicycles and motorcycles, such as cleaning solutions, washes, polishes, and lubricants.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead technical projects related to cleaning products
  • Design, test, and develop new cleaning products
  • Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to ensure efficient, timely product development
  • Create testing and characterization protocols
  • Maintain detailed project records
  • Manage laboratory equipment and resources
  • Work closely with the R&D team to support the development of additional products


Ideal Candidate:


  • Holds a Master’s/PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experienced in developing formulated products such as cleaning solutions and lubricants
  • Able to critically review technical data and literature
  • Proficient in chemical characterization techniques like FTIR and Gas Chromatography
  • Experienced in a laboratory setting with solid lab management skills, including chemical handling and COSHH assessments
  • Possesses a hands-on approach to project execution and problem-solving
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Competent in IT, with experience writing technical reports
