Job Description

Title: Head of ICT

Location: Coleraine

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: 37 hrs per week

Compensation: £27.83/hour (1-12 weeks), £30.69/hour (13 weeks +)


Overview: Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council seeks an experienced and visionary Head of ICT to lead our Information and Communications Technology operations. Situated in the scenic town of Coleraine, this role offers an exceptional opportunity to drive the technological advancement of the council, ensuring optimal integration and functionality of our ICT systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic ICT Leadership: Provide leadership and strategic direction in the development and management of the council's ICT functions.
  • ICT Strategy Development: Oversee the creation and implementation of an ICT strategy that aligns with the council's objectives, ensuring robust disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Team and Operations Management: Lead a high-performing ICT team, managing all aspects of the council's ICT infrastructure, including hardware and software support, secure communications, and asset integration.
  • Policy and Procedure Formulation: Develop ICT policies and provide direct advice to the Senior Management Team and council members, enhancing ICT service delivery across the organization.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure the security of ICT systems and compliance with relevant policies, providing a reliable and secure technological environment.


Essential Criteria:

  • Qualifications: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum three years at a senior management level in ICT within a large organization, OR five years relevant experience at a senior management level if without a degree.
  • Proven expertise in ICT strategy development, operational policy formulation, and service delivery.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing large-scale ICT operations.

  • A strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
