Main Purpose of Role:

Woods Air Movement have an exciting new opportunity to recruit a Electromechanical Design Engineer reporting to the MOG Lead Engineer. This role is part of a key pillar of the business in a dedicated and motivated team to deliver into strategic defence contracts. The Electromechanical Design Engineer will play a key role in supporting the business' growth and development of engineering solutions, supporting the strategic plan of the business by designing and developing new products in line with the NPI process.
The Engineer will be accountable for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements and maturing the design changes. The candidate will need to be able demonstrate an ability to work with our multifunctional organisation to find solutions to the bid/project needs. The candidate should show the skills required to support the project deliverables and drive the quality culture towards engineering excellence.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, a team player, a confident self-starter with drive to deliver change. They will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desired Experience sought.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in an HVAC engineering environment.
• Demonstratable experience in working on development and delivery projects.
• Excellent Stakeholder management at all levels
• Knowledge of software and programming advantageous.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
• Develop and design new products in line with the technical specifications.
• Prepare and report project progress at monthly reviews within the engineering team.
• Work within the team to develop business opportunities at the project concept stage.
• Identify and implement improvements in design tools and systems to drive increased productivity within the NPI process.
• Produce product/component designs, from concept through to manufacturing readiness, using a high end 3D CAD package.
• Produce supporting detail drawings and bills of materials for integration into product configuration and ERP software tools.
• Produce technical documentation in accordance with the New Product Introduction Process - Design FMEA, Product Risk Analysis, Technical Product Specifications etc.
• Support Business Unit Continuous, Productivity and Service Level Improvement activities working with the Process/Manufacturing/ Engineers.
• Ability to produce documentation and deliverable reports which are correct in both detail and scope.
• Ensure that Company quality procedures are adhered to.
• Providing technical expertise regarding AC induction motors and permanent magnet/EC power drive systems.
• Advising on EMC and other electronic equipment certification and regulations, mainly EMC and LVD, safety assessments & documentation for CE marking.
• Specification, verification and validation of control systems. Testing of software/hardware and troubleshooting.
• Producing wiring schematics and diagrams.

Person Specification/Profile:
• HND/degree in an electrical/electronic/mechanical discipline. Knowledge and awareness of engineering procedures
• Good knowledge of engineering tools (i.e. solidworks)
• Experience of induction motors, mechanical and electrical.
• Proven experience of drives and applications.
• Familiarity of state-of-the-art controls.
• Good problem solving skills
• Strong communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills
• Be able to produce accurate documentation
• High level analytical abilities
• Excellent persuasion and presentation skills
• Pro-active self-starter, capable of working on own initiative
• Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work at all levels of the organisation
• Awareness of manufacturing processes and Lean Manufacturing principles
• Strong judgment & prioritisation skills
• Employs a methodical and structured approach to tasks
• Innovative and enquiring character, willing to challenge thought processes
